Dr. Andrew Bassett, M.D. (researcher at the Bioelectric Research Center of Columbia University) has studied pulsed magnetic fields on the cellular function of connective tissue and function and concludes with: “A wide variety of challenging musculoskeletal disorders has been treated successfully over the past two decades. These include nerve regeneration, wound healing, graft behavior, diabetes, and myocardial and cerebral ischemia (heart attack and stroke), among other conditions. Preliminary data even suggest possible benefits in controlling malignancy. (Cancer)”

Pulsating field magneto-therapy will help resolve clinical, sport and space medicine problems . improves cardiovascular. nervous, allergic and other diseases. wounds heal faster and mental and physical strains disappear.
– Dr.Alexnader Obrosov Member USSR Academy of medical sciences

PEMF treatment in un-united fractures and failed Arthrodeses shows that in 1078 cases treated a success of 77% was achieved a higher percentage of theses would have gone for amputation otherwise.
– Dr. C.A.L.Besset New York Orthopedic Hospital.New York

“Over 10.000 people treated with PMF therapy are happy to be helped today. Oxygen intake increases 25-27% in spertsmen.over 30% in normal persons. For sick men it is much more”
Dr.lvan trong Sweden

“This idea of manipulating cellular activity with magnetically induced electrical currents is looking like one of the hottest new fields around.”
– Andy Bassett, MD on the future of PEMF, Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies

“All human activity is conditioned by the earth’s magnetic environment. Once the connection is made between the magnetic aspects of the biophysical chemistry of human bio-organism, indeed all planetary biology, then it becomes easier to conceive of the body as a bioelectric/magnetic apparatus, subject to all physical laws of magnetism.”
– Jiri Jerabek, MD, PhD & William Pawluk, MD, M.Sc. Book – Magenetic Therapy In EAstern Europe A review of 30 years of research

How important is PEMF Therapy? In 1992 Dr. Andrew Bassett, who helped pioneer the first FDA approved device using pulsed electro-magnetic fields, wrote, “In the decade to come bioelectro-magnetics will assume a therapeutic importance equal to, or greater than, that of pharmacology and surgery today. With proper interdisciplinary effort, significant inroads can be made in controlling the ravages of cancer, some forms of heart disease, arthritis, hormonal disorders, and neurological scourges such as Alzheimer’s disease, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis.”
Renowned orthopaedic surgeons like Dr.Becker and Dr.Andrew Basset, neurologists like Dr.Sandyk and Dr.Anninos and many others in the field of rehabilitation and general medicine have reported excellent results with the pmf therapy. There a a number of text books supporting the therapy . The pemf therapy is already popular in the USA, Canada, Israel, Japan Russia and Europe.

NASA Study (Summary)
NASA 4-year collaborative study on the efficacy of electromagnetic fields to stimulate growth and repair in mammalian tissues
CHIEF INVESTIGATOR:Thomas J. Goodwin, Ph.D. Lynden B Johnson Space Center
PURPOSE:This four year study used human donors “to define the most effective electromagnetic fields for enhancing growth and repair in mammalian tissues.”

To utilize “nerve tissue which has been refractory to efforts to stimulate growth or enhance its repair regardless of the energy used.” (all other tissues have demonstrated growth and repair stimulation with appropriate PEMF)

To define a PEMF technology that would “duplicate mature, three dimensional morphology between neuronal cells and feeder (glial) cells, which has not been previously accomplished.”

RESULTS:The PEMF used in the study “caused accelerated growth rate and better organized morphology over controls”, and resulted in “greater cell viability” (85% vs. 65%).

In the gene discovery array (chip technology that surveyed 10,000 human genes), the investigators found up-regulation of 150 genes associated with growth and cell restoration.

T. Goodwin (personal communication) ” PEMF shut down each dysregulatory gene we studied”.NASAs CONCLUSION:
“The up-regulation of these genes is in no manner marginal (1.7-8.4 logs) with gene sites for collagen production and growth the most actively stimulated.”

“We have clearly demonstrated the bioelectric/biochemical potentiation of nerve stimulation and restoration in humans as a documented reality”.
“The most effective electromagnetic field for repair of trauma was square wave with a rapid rate of change (dB/dt) which saw cell growth increased up to 4.0 times.”

They further noted that “slowly varying (millisecond pulse, sine wave) or non varying DC (CW lasers, magnets) had little to no effect.”
Final Recommendation: “One may use square wave EM fields with rapid rate of change for”:

> repairing traumatized tissues
> moderating some neurodegenerative diseases
> developing tissues for transplantation

*the first study to clarify technologies and efficacy parameters for tissue growth and restoration

A four-year study by NASA on the use of pulsed electromagnetism to control nerve cell growth concluded as follows, “one may use time varying electromagnetic fields (pulsed electromagnetic fields) for a number of purposes that include:

• the development of transplant tissues
• repairing traumatized tissues
• moderating some neurodegenerative diseases

This 33-page NASA document is potentially one of the watershed studies in medical history- but few US citizens will ever hear of it, let alone benefit from its use.NASA was not the first to observe the restoration effects of Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields. Scientists at Stanford University used PEMF to save 70% of cells that otherwise died after inducing a stroke; Columbia University investigators saved heart muscle cells that, when untreated, died. Both studies were blinded microscopic reviews. Dr Deborah Ciombor reported PEMF was “disease modifying” in animals that had arthritis identical to humans. Throw in osteoporosis since we already use PEMF to mend poorly healing bones, and you begin to see the promise of this technology.US citizens live in the only industrialized nation in the world where PEMF isn’t available- in their home! Some European countries encourage in-home use before drugs or surgery. Guess who doesn’t want this safe, inexpensive treatment available?

Russia uses PEMF instead of by-pass surgery to restore ischemic heart muscle. Located just outside Moscow, the Myasnikov Institute (now the National Center for Cardiac Study) is world famous for such treatment-US cardiologists saw it in 1972! Imagine a non-invasive treatment for increasing blood supply to heart muscle that costs a few hundred dollars and kills no one; contrast that to by-pass surgery. What about tissue repair following trauma as in surgical incisions? Free radical mitigation and gene up regulation are established PEMF effects, as is wound healing. In spite of 2000 published articles, the NASA study, and a half-century of use, critics still call for double blind studies. A recent study concluded less than 20% of current medical practice has undergone rigorous scientific scrutiny- where’s the beef? What an inexplicable demand when surgical procedures rarely undergo blindedor rigorous outcome scrutiny; together with designer drug studies we see nothing is blind except oversight and biased demands.Dr Gabi Nindl, a respected investigator and teacher at the University of Indiana School of Medicine recently stated, “optimistically, PEMF could replace many pharmaceutical and surgical interventions currently used to provide safe, effective treatment for inflammation and”. Congratulations Dr Nindl, that needed saying for a very long time
